Kroger Ad this week

I live in Virginia and this is what our ad looks like this week...I know that some regions had different sales. The deal is that if you buy 10 participating items, you get $5 off your purchase, and you can get this deal 3 times per transaction, not card.

I hope that this helps a little!

Kroger, Round 1

I am calling this round one because I will be heading back again soon....

I did this in four transactions so I will list them by transaction. For the first one, I had coupons for everything! It was very exciting. I went prepared with a list of 30 items, all on the "Big 10 Deal" that they have going on. I then went up and paid, tied my bags, and headed back into the store. The same happened with the second transaction. The third was the one for items that I did not have coupons for and was expecting it to cost more.

1st transaction:

3 bags of cat treats (coupons for "try me free" in paper)
3 bags of cat food (free coupons "try me free" in paper)
1 spicy French's mustard (free with purchase coupon in paper)
These items above were not included in my 30 items

10 Lipton Rice/pasta sides
13 Betty Crocker Pouch Cookie Mix

When I checked out on this transaction, there was a coupon left by another customer for $3 off any 3 Johnson baby products. I scooped this up, with permission of course.

I saved $136.15 at Kroger! ***

***I ran into my dear friend Sherri during my trip at Kroger. We were one aisle apart when I heard her excitement over the soap that was on clearance and we hung out together for the rest of our trip. We probably spent an extra hour just looking for deals and chit-chatting but it was a ton of fun!

This was a great stock-up and save week for me! This was a WOO-HOO week! I actually made two trips so this is them both combined. The totals shown include card/coupons/discontinued discounts.

12 boxes of cereal (8.40 total for all boxes)
*Total normal price $31.90. I paid an average of 70 cents per box- savings $23.50

*Total normal price $9.78-savings $5.90

2 Colgate toothbrushes (50 cents for both)
*Total normal price $3.66-savings $3.16

8 2packs of soap (5.64 for all/70 cents per box average)
*Total normal price $20.32-savings $14.68

9 packs of chicken breasts (25.83 for all packs/$2.87 package average)
*Total normal price $71.27-saving $45.44

I purchased some other things too, some on special and some not. I had some really great coupons, including some given to me by a stranger. I also found some wonderful closeouts!

Rainy Day Shopping

CVS

Today I ventured to CVS not quite sure what I was going to buy and how to use the ECB's to my advantage. I appreciate all of the bloggers who share their *deal* ideas but none of them suited me this week.
I don't feel a sense of accomplishment this week, even though I did pretty well. I guess I spent a little more than I thought I would.

1st Purchase:
2 swiffer wet refills ($5.99 each)
- $2 ECB
-$1/2 coupon swiffer refills
Total: $9.48
Earned $5 ECB

2nd Purchase
2 Downy fabric softeners (3.50 each)
1 Dawn Ultra ( 99 cents)
1 Razor ($9.99)
-$4.00 razor coupon
-$5 ECB
-$.5o dawn coupon
Total: $9.11
Earned $8 ECB

3rd Purchase
2 Tide Liquid detergents (4.99 each)
1 bag orange slices (for my little ones who were losing patience but still behaving so well)
-$6 ECB
-$2 ECB
Total: $2.09
Earned $0

So, I spent $20.68 but saved $54.50.

Then to Kroger...

I only bought a couple of roasts because I am really trying to only get things I need, not just because a deal is great. I looked and looked at the Cheerios but just couldn't bring myself to buy them because I don't need them.

2 Roasts (1.99 pound) $5.93 & $7.10
1 (2 pack) of strip steaks $7.83

The roasts will be divided into two and frozen. This will provide two months worth of roast beef or BBQ beef. So, four meals for respectively $3.25 a piece.

Although the steaks weren't on sale, we save so much money by not going out to get steaks that it is a luxury that we splurge on every once in a while. Add a baked potato and sauted onion and that is a dinner for two for just under $10!

I then went to Walmart and finished my grocery list for $25
